The first Friday in April has been labeled as National Walk to Work Day. This started in the US in 2004 and the aim is to walk for all or part of your commute.
If walking to work isn’t an option, gather some colleagues and Walk to Lunch instead!
Remember to wear sensible clothing and comfortable walking shoes. Walking 30-60 minutes each day greatly lowers your health risks.
Don’t forget the importance of stretching when you’ve completed your walk. Check out some great stretches in our post entitled, “Want to be a faster runner?” http://dynasplint.net/running-walking/want-to-be-a-faster-runner#more-149
There are many websites out there offering information about National Walk to Work Day. Here’s one that offers a lot of great information: http://walking.about.com/od/pedestrians/p/walktoworkday.htm
See you out there!
